The planned timeline for this internship is June 1 - August 28, 2020, with some flexibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the remote sensing data science team for algorithms related to regenerative agriculture
  • Help to compile ground and ancillary data sets in support of model estimation and evaluation
  • Effectively interface with indigo field teams and tools
  • Field webcam imagery analysis; identify events; support data management plan; create ROI time series
  • ML support for event modeling e.g. plant date, harvest date, tillage (we’re going to have a large amount of machine data coming from FDS)
  • Pick up regen resiliency study work post-report deadline
  • Intercomparison of our regen products with OPTIS, possibly in collaboration with Dagan
  • Scope out use of novel remote sensing data sets such as, for e.g., GOES-16 ABI or TROPOMI SIF data

Competencies:

  • Ability to build a variety of effective statistical models from large-scale, real-world datasets
  • Ability to effectively visualize data in a clear and compelling manner
  • Self-directed, able to build and drive their own agenda for improvements & experiments
  • Works well both as a team member and independently
  • Can translate the results of complex analyses into interpretable results, visually and verbally
  • Coding skills, and an interest in improving an existing codebase
  • Writes well-documented, clean, maintainable code in a collaborative environment

Qualifications:

  • Experience with git or similar
  • Experience with geospatial data, remote sensing or imagery data (not required but useful)
  • Experienced using Python and/or R for data analysis (fluency in both is great)
  • Working on or completed an academic degree with a quantitative focus
  • Desire to work in a software and/or product development environment
  • Experience with either AWS or Google Cloud (not required, but useful)

Location

On the edge of Charlestown, we are within walking distance to restaurants and bars. The Sullivan Square T and bus stop is also right next door! We are currently working remote/hybrid with the exception of our fantastic Biotrinsic team who work from the office and lab space here.
