Join a team that is discovering what drives price movements in staple grain crops around the world. This co-op will apply data science methods to develop interpretable models of these complex markets in the service of advancing profitable, sustainable agriculture.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Learn about and improve upon industry-standard modeling methods
  • Learn about grain market logistics, major players and basic operating rules
  • Test multiple fit methods (e.g., time series, regression, clustering) on model data
  • Build modular software models to evaluate candidate fit methods
  • Identify model weaknesses and failure modes, propose solutions
  • Develop robust model tests
  • Source new data relevant for models
  • Document model successes and failures for the rest of the team
  • Present model results to a broad audience
  • Understand and embody our purpose & core values

COMPETENCIES

  • Experience in python or R with a drive to write maintainable code
  • Familiarity with basic data science regression methods
  • Ability to distill complicated datasets into clean and clear plots
  • Curiosity to examine and explain unexpected results
  • Drive to learn a lot of information quickly
  • Interest in working on a collaborative team
  • Science or engineering background is a plus

Location

On the edge of Charlestown, we are within walking distance to restaurants and bars. The Sullivan Square T and bus stop is also right next door! We are currently working remote/hybrid with the exception of our fantastic Biotrinsic team who work from the office and lab space here.
