HW/Firmware Engineering Co-Op

SimpliSafe is a technology start-up growing in the heart of Boston, but with a national footprint. We design, manufacture, and sell a line of wireless home security systems. Our technology and service platform is giving over a million Americans the ability to protect their homes and families without the hassles, contracts and fees charged by traditional home security. With a new release in the works, we're on the lookout for a Fall 2019 co-op that can work with our senior engineering team to help build and test our next generation solution.

What you'll do:

  • Assemble and test hardware prototypes
  • Collaborate with the firmware and hardware teams in the test and debug of our next generation system
  • Develop unit and system level tests to verify firmware and hardware
  • Develop test firmware to simulate customer use cases
  • Rework boards as needed

About you:

  • Experience in embedded systems, specifically bare-metal
  • Able to read and interpret schematics and other hardware documentation
  • Some understanding of 32/16/8 bit microcontrollers (preferably PIC) and sensor peripherals
  • Basic working knowledge of DMMs and oscilloscopes. Logic analyzers are a plus
  • Exhibits basic soldering skills and board level rework
  • Proficient in C and Python
  • Enjoys working in a highly collaborative environment
