Finance Summer Intern

The job of the Finance Intern is to support the organization while learning about a career in finance. Finance interns gain practical experience in the constantly-growing field of finance. Regular duties and responsibilities include helping perform research, preparing financial reports, assisting with reconciling accounts and other duties, as needed. The Indigo Finance Internship will include rotations with the Controller’s group (GL Accounting), Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury & Risk Management, Financial Reporting and/or Tax.

Responsibilities:

 

Work with Director of Risk Management to develop an understanding of:

  • Futures Markets
  • Commodity Risk
  • Hedging
  • Working Capital Risk
  • Credit Risk

 

Technical accounting memos: 2018 file/folder/SharePoint cleanup – maintain final versions only (word/PDF) and necessary agreements

 

Policy project – help set up/document structure of policies for each major Financial Statement Account

 

Monthly close checklist enhancement/streamlining

 

Go back to quarterly periods in 2018/set up quarterly files

  • Help with derivative accounting for quarterly periods in 2018

 

Tie out of monthly/quarterly reconciliations back to Oracle GL (in case we completed recs and later made entries that adjusted the balances)

 

Argentina FX testing in USD for Jan-March

Lease accounting adoption assistance – pulling together key terms of all leases, helping with lease spreadsheets

 

Work with VP, Treasury & Risk Management to help with administrative aspects including but not limited to:

  • Managing/issuing certificates of insurance requests
  • Waiving work comp exceptions
  • Project management of the insurance open items list
  • Project management of claims

  • Strong communications skills – strong verbal and written communication skills that support the ability to interact professionally both internally and externally with people at multiple levels of an organization to advocate for projects and achieve favorable results
  • Collaborative – ability to work with people from multiple internal departments to drive performance
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work under deadlines
  • Self-motivated – ability to take initiative on reoccurring projects with little to no direction
