The Data Visualization Co-op will be part of the Data Innovation team, and will be motivated by the following questions: How can we harness JavaScript, HTML and CSS to build interactive visualizations that inform business decisions and drive impact? What problems across the business can we solve by building rapid prototype applications? How can we unlock the potential of data at Indigo by presenting it in novel ways?

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting with implementation of interactive dashboards using web based tools
  • Own the build out of new functionality in a modular way for data driven front-end applications (JavaScript, ReactJS, D3.js, MapBox)
  • Design UX/UI wireframes which will guide prototype development
  • Prepare spatial (and non-spatial) data sets for viewing / consuming in web-based applications (JSON, GeoJSON, TopoJSON)
  • Connect front end code to RESTful API endpoints built by Indigo engineering teams
  • Use HTML / CSS skills to build websites aligned with Indigo brand assets
  • Use Git and GitHub for version control and take part in the code review process
  • Deploy development and production applications on Indigo’s AWS infrastructure
  • Utilize Docker to containerize applications for easy deployment anywhere

COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to effectively visualize data in a clear and compelling manner
  • Self-directed, able to build and drive their own agenda for dashboard/visualization construction
  • Works well both as a team member and independently
  • Can communicate well and gather requirements from a diverse set of teams
  • Can translate UI wireframes into a functional prototype
  • JavaScript skills (ReactJS helpful), and an interest in improving an existing codebase Ability to ingest prepared data from API endpoints into front end environments
  • Writes well-documented, clean, maintainable code in a collaborative environment (Git)

Location

On the edge of Charlestown, we are within walking distance to restaurants and bars. The Sullivan Square T and bus stop is also right next door! We are currently working remote/hybrid with the exception of our fantastic Biotrinsic team who work from the office and lab space here.
