The role of the Engineering Intern is to work with the Automation Engineering team at Indigo to help on a wide range of responsibilities and projects related to throughput, ergonomics and repeatability. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-growing startup with a mission of harnessing nature to help farmers sustainably feed the planet. This role is expected to require 40 hours per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Engineering Processes by:
    • Small scale prototyping
    • Evaluating current and future solutions
    • Working with teams to test potential automation solutions
    • Recommend new devices as needed
    • Designing and creating what has not been created
  • Support Laboratory Processes by:
    • Meeting with teams and evaluating possible solutions
    • Reaching out to third parties for in-house demos and training
    • Working with teams to evaluate new device functionality
    • Providing an engineering point-of-view to current processes and tasks
    • Supporting already incorporated laboratory devices

COMPETENCIES

  • Engineering background (Mechanical or Electrical)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Proficient in CAD
  • knowledge of Image Processing/Analysis
  • In-depth knowledge of Python
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Ability to think creatively with new ideas and solutions
  • Highly organized and motivated
  • Excited to learn new things
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High energy, enthusiastic, positive attitude

Location

On the edge of Charlestown, we are within walking distance to restaurants and bars. The Sullivan Square T and bus stop is also right next door! We are currently working remote/hybrid with the exception of our fantastic Biotrinsic team who work from the office and lab space here.
