What you’ll do:
As a Software Engineering Co-op at Chewy, there are several departments in which you could make a lasting impact:
[Storefront] Software Engineering. Responsible for the customer experience on Chewy.com or our mobile app, our interns have exposure across the entire business, influencing the vision and implementation of designs and features for this critical platform. Strong Computer Science fundamentals will be helpful in this role – object oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis. Experience with any combination of JavaScript, CSS or Java, C, SWIFT or HTML, Android/iOS will set you up for a successful experience within Storefront Engineering.
[Back-office] Software Engineering. The backbone of our platform, this team is the backend of our commerce platform. Our interns write simple and sustainable code that reflects a deep understanding of the business and contributes meaningfully to the success of your team. Strong Computer Science fundamentals will be helpful in this role – object oriented design/multithreading, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis. Understanding of SQL and proficiency in a statically typed general purpose programming languages such as Java, Scala or Kotlin will set you up for a successful experience within Back-office Engineering.

What you’ll need:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and returning to the program after the completion of this opportunity.
- Proficiency in a statically typed general purpose programming languages such as Java, Scala, Kotlin, C#, Swift, Objective-C, GO
- Understanding of professional software engineering practices for the full software development lifecycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Some understanding of SQL, RDMBS
- Ability to work 40 hours per week during the 6-month Co-op.
