Reporting to the Chief People Officer, Jenny Dearborn, the VP, HR Business Partners position is a critical role for Klaviyo, and one that will help lead the strategy and design of the company’s HR programs by connecting them to the company’s culture. This person will partner with the Senior Leadership of the business and lead the global HR business partner team covering US, EMEA and APAC.
Klaviyo has doubled their headcount over the last year and a half and will continue this trajectory, so it is crucial that the company delivers a high-quality candidate and employee experience during this next phase. The VP, HR Business Partners will approach this task with a thoughtfulness around creating a workforce and environment that embodies Klaviyo’s values, mission, and vision. This role will be based in Klaviyo’s Boston, MA headquarters once the company and local officials deem it is safe to bring employees back to the office.

- Identifying and delivering strategic talent strategies throughout the business area
- Establishing People KPI’s for the business; ensuring a cadence for reporting out and assessing competitiveness in the market
- Bringing thought leadership and external best practice
- Leading a team of Global HRBPs to deliver exceptional support to the business
The Competencies:
Exceptional Executive level HR Business Partner experience: The role requires a business-minded, engaging individual who is knowledgeable in current and next-gen practices and has the skills and ability to enhance the employee experience across the organization. This leader will have a wealth of experience in Organizational design, change management and leading businesses through rapid growth.
A passion for change management within a fast-paced environment: As Klaviyo continues to add significant headcount to all functions across the business, this VPHR Business Partners will be energized by change and thrive on pivoting quickly. A love for change management and navigating through ambiguity will be key as this leader stays at the forefront of the evolving People function. Previous experience working in similar agile environments and always staying up on cutting-edge People trends will be essential to keeping Klaviyo’s talent in lockstep with the evolving business model. Experience in organizational design for technical teams is a must.
Build trusting relationships and influence key stakeholders: This role calls for an experienced HR Generalist who can successfully partner with and coach senior leadership to blend strategy, change management and effective program development that aligns with Klaviyo’s growth plans. This natural leader will be attuned to tackling projects with a big-picture approach, identifying broad organizational challenges and opportunities, breaking these complex projects down into manageable tasks, and leading a small team through execution. A creative mindset and confidence to step into any situation and evaluate multiple points of view will be an essential trait for success as they drive a culture that supports meaningful, high-impact employee development.
A Talent Management strategist: As Klaviyo continues to grow, an intentional focus on Talent Management will be essential to the success of the business and the employees that drive it forward. The VP HR Business Partners will have demonstrated experience within employee engagement, performance feedback, career pathing, identifying high-potential employees and succession planning. Within performance management, they will ensure that company standards are followed, performance is accurately assessed, quality feedback and development discussions take place, and reward is appropriately allocated to the highest performing members of the team.
They will understand what it takes to attract, develop and retain engineering talent within a competitive environment, and work with the Chief People Officer to build HR programs that define Klaviyo as an employer of choice within the software industry
