Reporting to the head of Talent Equity, Attraction and Insights, this leadership role is key in driving our diversity goals and objectives in partnership with our leaders, stakeholders and partners. In this role you will support MassMutual's efforts to advance racial equity and justice and promote financial well-being for the benefit of our employees, our customers and the communities we serve.
This leadership role is highly visible, both internally and externally, tasked with promoting the importance of DEI and how we are tackling these issues with our employees, candidates, financial advisors, customers and beyond. Required Qualifications:
12+ years' experience with increasing scope & responsibility in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion; experience with change leadership and implementing successful programs including 5 + years of experience in any leadership role/s
A DEI thought leader with strong relationship building, influencing, and stakeholder management skills. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to share a strategic DEI journey, both internally and externally
Ability to facilitate courageous conversations and interact at all levels and across the organization while building strong internal and external networks and leveraging them to further the DEI strategic vision
Knowledge of external DEI practices to inform future strategies, initiatives and competitive benchmarking.
Excels at prioritizing stakeholders and assessing both the outcomes, and the strategic return on initiatives, pivoting strategy and direction as needed
A balanced perspective with strong cultural competence and ability to work across affinities.
Experience advising senior leaders on DEI strategy and projects, as well as leading programs from concept to completion
Ability to navigate existing practices, procedures and interdependencies while incorporating and influencing new approaches
An analytical mindset and comfort in interpreting data to be able to connect our efforts to the broader picture, make recommendations and inform action
Excels at and deeply enjoys partnering with and mentoring team on executing programs and events
Minimum of a bachelor's degree required
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement and effectively communicate a company-wide DEI strategy, with the input of key partners and leadership team members that is high-impact, game-changing, and achieves strategic objectives.
Develop and implement DEI solutions that can be scaled and tailored to enterprise needs aimed at improving and promoting a culture based on our values and promoting a sense of belonging and inclusion
Enhance and maintain leadership commitment by building awareness for the business case of DEI, ensuring basic conceptual clarity about diversity
Work with business units to embed inclusive practices into our operations; develop a network of champions across the enterprise, providing methodology, coaching, tools and leadership to support their DEI and change efforts
Play a key role dealing with DEI-related challenges that extend beyond the boundaries of MassMutual in shaping the communities in which we operate and the customers we serve, as well as our broader long-term corporate ESG strategy
Partner with Community Responsibility, ESG, Supplier Diversity, Field and Corporate Marketing and Functional DEI committees to align and drive DEI goals
Advise and guide Business Resource Groups (BRGs) to build supportive communities and increase their impact on our business
Use data to track progress, identify trends, inform future actions, stay up to date with diversity best practices, benchmarking our practices and taking our efforts to the next level
Build relationships and provide expert counseling/coaching to various groups.
Partner with the HR, third-party vendors, and partners to create and execute employee attraction, learning, development and retention programs to increase inclusion, engagement and retention across our diverse workforce
Facilitate open and honest discussions about diversity and social issues for the organization to promote communication and understanding
Partner with our Brand & Marketing, Communications, and Talent Brand leads to develop an engaging and inspiring communication strategy
Manage day-to-day operations of all DEI programs, resources and budget, applying structured methodology to lead change management activities
