Our Opportunity:

Chewy is hiring a Compensation Analyst in our Boston office to drive compensation strategy and planning across the organization. These strategic initiatives will impact all of our employees and the overall culture of the organization. This role will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day administration of the compensation department, including development of the company’s overarching compensation philosophy, conducting market pricing and creating the compensation structure for new and existing roles as our business continues to grow and expand into new geographies. You’ll be successful in this role because you are detail oriented, highly analytical, organized and hard working.

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct job evaluations, including analyzing job descriptions for job level, title, and FLSA status. Work with managers and HR partners to develop function-specific leveling guides which clarify job responsibilities, job requirements, and other leveling factors. Work with HR and managers to develop career progression projects by functional area.
  • Participate in and analyze results of compensation surveys. Determine appropriate job matches and provide requested data. Recommend addition or discontinuation of surveys. Act as Project Manager for the maintenance of market pricing database, including ensuring that salary survey data is updated, jobs are market priced annually, and the functionalities of the database are fully utilized.
  • Brief HR and managers on compensation issues. Develop informational materials and/or analyses to assist managers and HR in understanding and resolving compensation issues. Support the creation and updating of compensation policies and procedures.
  • Play a key role in administering annual merit and quarterly bonus cycles. Compile market data, prepare monthly accruals and model and analyze a variety of cost scenarios. Assist with developing communication and training materials. Provide analysis of payout data to leaders.
  • Partner with the HRIS and talent acquisition team to ensure consistent compensation, job title and level across the organization.
  • Ensure that the administration of compensation programs follows established guidelines, processes, and procedures.
  • Research and respond to complex questions from employees and leaders regarding interpretation of compensation plans and philosophies.
  • Support special compensation and benefits projects and cross-functional HR initiatives as needed, including the performance review process, audit support, metrics reporting, FLSA compliance, departmental organization reviews, etc.

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelors degree with a concentration in Human Resources, Business, Finance or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience in an analytical role, preferably within compensation, human resources, finance or a related field.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (macros, VBA, automation).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to research complex questions and conduct analysis.
  • Customer service focused, self-motivated and able to work both independently and in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Creative and innovative approach to solving problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail oriented with demonstrated organization and time management skills.
  • Position may require travel

  • SHRM-CP, PHR, CCP or related certification
  • Advanced degree
