Mimecast is looking for an energetic and team-oriented Benefits Manager, North America (based in Lexington, MA.) to collaborate with business and HR leaders to help grow an exciting business with a unique culture. 

 

The Benefits Manager, North America will report to the Senior Director of Global Total Rewards & HR Technology and will be a member of the Toward Rewards Leadership Team. This role provides career growth for a benefits talent who will have the following key goals to lead as part of the HR agenda!

  • Provide leadership for a fully integrated medical and wellness strategy ensuring employees are supported both physically and mentally
  • Creation and administration of innovative virtual working policies – this includes working from home benefits, child care programs, and flexible working schedules.
  • Support Financial benefits administration and the education of employees so that saving and retirement vehicles are maximized.
  • Assess our current perks and the ROI of those programs, recommending changes as needed.

Responsibilities

As our Benefits Manager, North America, you will be responsible for supporting all Benefits and Wellness initiatives on a global basis while delivering excellent HR support to the business units within the Mimecast community. The primary duties include the following:

  • As a member of the Global Total Rewards team, lead benefits strategy development including competitive benchmarking analysis and evaluating current and new benefits.
  • Partner with key stakeholders beyond North America to provide global cross functional support and gain perspective to inform global benefits strategy.
  • Complete cost analysis of current benefits, contribute to budget setting process and roadmap program recommendations and prioritization.
  • Review plan utilization and trend data and offer perspective to: (1) drive employee communications, (2) implement wellness initiatives (3) propose possible plan design enhancements, and (4) set the strategic approach for annual plan renewals. Serve as point of contact for brokers involved in the renewal processes.
  • Assess paid time off and leave plans to identify opportunities to improve and propose changes to ensure we are in best practice position.
  • Lead comprehensive benefits communication and education strategy. Deliver materials and trainings to augment employee understanding and maximize plan offering. Drive 2-way communication (e.g., surveys, focus groups) with employees, managers and HR team to inform prioritization and strategic focus.
  • With a focus on benefits for the United States and Canada, support program offering and administration, including:
    • Complete and manage benefits policy/guideline inventory and assess needs for updates and ongoing management.
    • Partner with HR-Ops and Workday team to ensure data accuracy, sensitivity and efficiency in all file feeds and processes.
    • Responsible for Open Enrollment and employee communication and training.
    • Responsible for administration of benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life, FSA/DCA, 401k, COBRA, and voluntary fringe benefits. Ensure ongoing review of claims and trends.
    • Serve as subject matter expert and primary contact for employees, internal stakeholders and vendors.
    • Ensure compliance requirements and audits are completed accurately and proactively, including: plan regular audits, 401(k), ACA, Medicare, COIVD-19 best practices, etc.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in benefits administration and management preferably in a global, public, matrixed company
  • Experience managing relationships with external partners and benefits vendors
  • Curiosity to explore new ideas in benefits and perks
  • Ability to analyze claims data and spot trends
  • Creative approaches to plan designs and ability to analyze pricing of plans
  • Capability to multi-task to manage multiple projects while maintain a close attention to detail
  • Systems savvy and experience with Workday, ATS, MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Great written and verbal communication skills and a very polished customer service oriented demeanor
  • Ability to work independently, initiate and identify solutions. Strong analytical skills, sound judgment and proven problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with HR and Benefit market, trends and best practices as well as current regulations 
  • Requires maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Advanced degree or industry certifications preferred, such as Certificated Compensation Professional (CCP) and Certified Benefits Professional (CBP). Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional organizations such as World at Work and SHRM
  • Experience in the technology industry is desirable but not mandatory

  • Analytical Skills.  Reason through complex business/product information to understand organizational implications.  Work through a variety of views that lead to the most effective solution. Able to work through financial information with strong attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal Astuteness.  Ability to listen and understand while relating to a variety of personalities and points of view. Accurately assess people and situations determining the best solution for the business. Skilled at teamwork and team leadership.
  • Organizational Savvy.  Does not play politics but understands the politics of an organization.  Is able to understand nuance and has well developed instincts as to appropriate response in a variety of situations.  Relates and works with a variety of personality types and work styles across all levels of the organization
