Benefits and Payroll Specialist

The People Team at Catalant has a mission to shape an environment in which employees are engaged, present, and proud. We have a lot to do on our overall People Roadmap this year and we’re looking for a Benefits & Payroll Specialist to join our team. This is an impactful role as you own the experience relating to how our employees understand and navigate through their benefits + wellness programs, pay, and any related policies and regulations.

This role is part of the People team, reporting to the SVP People, and will work closely with our Controller and our broader Finance team; there will also be collaboration with other teams across Catalant.

What you'll do
- Be the primary point of contact for all employee questions relating to benefits, pay, our systems and policies, and leaves of absence.
- Collaborate with benefit vendors and our broker (Sequoia) in solving any employee benefits issues that may come up through the year.
- Lead us through the annual renewals for our benefit plans, benchmark against our peers, research industry and trends, and own the entire annual Open Enrollment process.
- Determine appropriate communication strategy for our benefits (open enrollment and throughout the year) and develop education programs to ensure employees understand their benefits and their value.
- Continue to build up our wellness initiatives and activities, develop a network of resources and contacts to further expand wellness programs. Explore ideas and opportunities to personalize programs to increase employee participation.
- Process the semi-monthly and bi-weekly payrolls for our employees in various states.
- Maintain current knowledge of Federal and State wage and hour regulations, health and welfare standards, Paid Leave laws; communicate and implement updates as required.
- Thoroughly understand and execute compliance regulations + reporting for benefits, payroll, and retirement plans.
- Be the primary admin user of our HRIS + Payroll system (Namely) through all parts of the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, pay + job changes, life event changes, benefit integrations, and offboarding.
- Run regular reports and conduct periodic audits to ensure the data integrity across platforms (HRIS, Payroll, Benefits systems, and any other vendor platforms).
What you'll bring
- A keen combination of empathy, business acumen, and good judgment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of benefits programs including health, dental, and vision insurance, flexible spending plans, 401k plans...and the associated regulations that come with.
- Prior experience with administration of, and knowledge of Federal and State laws relating to, Leaves of Absence.
- An eagerness to partner with employees and internal stakeholders. We don’t operate in a silo! You can work well independently in our fast-paced environment; however, “collaboration” is your middle name.
- Analytical ability to take in many data points and provide summaries and actionable recommendations in a clear and concise way.
- A growth mindset and appetite to learn and seek how we can uplevel the employee experience at all touch points through their journey with us.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to balance taking your work seriously but having a lot of fun and laughter along the way.
