Position Summary:The HR Project Associate is part of a team charged with scaling, simplifying, providing excellent service delivery, building an integrated HR technology roadmap and paving the way for manager and employee self-service. This team works on projects focused on process improvement as well as day to day support for all athenistas beginning with new hire communication, onboarding/background checks and employee HR requests and questions that come in through the askHR and Benefits inbox. An integral part of the larger HR team’s success is based on the project work and resolutions that this team will work on and provide. Each Associate will be involved in 1-3 projects at any given time; they will be tasked with identifying the gaps, understanding the voice of the customer, researching best practices internally and externally, considering ROI, cost, risks and providing a solution that they can execute in the near and long term.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

60% HR Project Work – Scaling, Automating and Process Improvement

  • Identify areas of opportunity within the team and the HR Centers of Excellence, create project proposals that will improve process and employee experience
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to create a project plan, execute on the project plan and provide a proposal to the HR Operations Leadership team
  • Participate in the roll-out and implementation of approved project proposals that leads to positive change in the HR department and overall employee experience

20% Center of Excellence Support and Enablement

  • Onboard all athenistas into our systems and own management of off-cycle new hire process
  • Conduct Exit Interviews for all levels, escalate themes when necessary and provide a report of themes when requested by the business
  • Process employee information in Workday (i.e. Legal Name Changes in Workday, Leave of Absence time off in Workday, etc.)
  • Create best practice process, reference material, tools for askHR team to share workflows
  • Manage 3rd party vendors (i.e. unemployment, background checks)

20% Provide solution and resolution for tier 1 and tier 2 HR questions

  • Provide quick, accurate and consistent answers to complex Tier 1 and Tier 2 Human Resources and Benefits inquiries to various levels of employees while promoting self-service resolutions
  • Identify solutions to get employees HR questions answered in the most simple and scalable way while providing a great employee experience
  • Understand trends of employee inquiries and keep the employee up to date. Additionally, Review Employee Portal for policy compliance, accuracy, and authorization approvals
  • Log, track and report monthly team metrics and use the metrics to spearhead process improvement


Education, Experience, & Skills Required:

  • BA/BS Degree in human resources or a related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of professional work experience in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • 2+ years of Human Resources experience
  • Experience working with both HRIS and applicant tracking systems
  • Mastery of all Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to prioritize and to multi-task in a face paced environment, manage several projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and communicate potential conflicts to manager

  • Ability to be an effective team member and display initiative and flexibility in team goal orientation in a fast pace, ever changing environment
  • Ability to be flexible and change with environment, industry, and business demands
