Senior Tax Accountant
Klaviyo is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant who will be responsible for supporting the company’s global tax function. This position will report to the Assistant Controller and be part of the Corporate Accounting team. The Senior Tax Accountant will be primarily responsible for coordinating global tax compliance, planning and reporting. The Senior Tax Accountant will serve as the point person for compliance and filings with our external tax advisors, on special projects as assigned by the Assistant Controller, and for coordination with colleagues in Legal, HR and other areas of the business. A successful candidate will have demonstrated experience within a multi-state/multi-jurisdictional corporate income tax environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and review outsourced US federal, state and international tax filings, including returns, extensions, and estimated payments.
- Coordinate, prepare supporting documents for, and review quarterly and annual US federal, state and international tax provisions.
- Support quarterly and annual audits by providing information to external auditors to assist with their review and by preparing accurate and timely tax accounting disclosures.
- Manage financial statement reporting process as related to direct and indirect taxes, including preparing tax account reconciliations for income statement accounts by jurisdiction and related tax balance sheet accounts, including deferred tax assets and liabilities.
- Perform research on various tax issues including US federal, state and international tax regulations such as credits and incentives, tax positions, nexus status, and best practices.
- Monitor changes in legislation to proactively plan for and respond to changes in US, state and international tax laws.
- Support federal and state tax audits by preparing responses and appropriate schedules.
- Review transfer pricing calculations and maintain transfer pricing documentation.
- Coordinate and file monthly, quarterly, and sales tax returns, including collaborating with accounting and billing teams to confirm completeness and accuracy of filings.
- Collaborate with the payroll team regarding employer tax registrations, filings, and other compliance for local, state, and international employer taxes.
- Complete various analysis throughout the year to assist with the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
- Prepare ad hoc tax analysis, analytical support, and assistance with other special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation required.
- 3-5 years corporate tax experience required, preferably within a public accounting firm or large multinational organization.
- Experience within the technology/SaaS industry strongly preferred.
- CPA or master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation strongly preferred.
- Advanced Excel capabilities required; experience with ERP tools preferred.
- Ability to work on and prioritize multiple projects while continuing to meet goals and deadlines for ongoing tasks, with minimum supervision.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and analytical skills.
- Ability to interact with and build productive working relationships across all organizational levels and departments.
