Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that high performance computing resources are available to the end users at all times.
  • Work directly with Investment professionals to ensure that today’s computing needs are met and tomorrow’s are planned for.  Scope includes OS upgrades, core library upgrades and managing the scale of the compute environment.  Environment changes and expansion of compute is expected to be scripted and highly automated.
  • Monitor, maintain and manage existing server, network, and application environments.
  • Implement new equipment. Plan and expand the enterprise systems infrastructure. Coordinate systems capabilities with user and business needs while anticipating future requirements of both the internal systems and end users.
  • Act as technical resource and mentor for junior staff on Infrastructure Service teams.
  • Support IT service delivery to the Acadian business units 24x7, including on call and maintenance weekend rotations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering or related field preferred; at least 7 years of prior experience, financial services exposure is a plus
  • A minimum of 3 years Linux administration experience, certification in Redhat or Ubuntu is a plus; 2 years working experience with Cloud services (AWS and/or Azure, Office 365); A minimum of 3 years of working experience with VMware, Windows Servers, SAN, Server hardware
  • Working experience with configuration and automation tools (systemd, Puppet, Chef, GitLab Runner, Jenkins)
  • Strong programming/scripting skill in Python, PowerShell, Bash
  • Proven Linux abilities to provide strong baseline of expertise (Apache, Bind, ipfwadm/iptables, chroot, packages/dependencies/compiling, user management, clustering/HA)
  • Familiarity working in a Windows and Linux integrated environment (Kerberos, Centrify, and Active Directory)
  • Strong IT operations and engineering background, preferably in a financial services organization.
  • Strong technical background, strong written and oral communication skills, project management skills, and the ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
  • Ability to spot problematic areas, analyze solutions, propose resolutions, and direct their implementation
