Position Summary

MassMutual seeks an exceptional and experienced Business Analyst in all phases of the project lifecycle (Waterfall & Agile).  Is recognized as a subject matter expert in the business analysis field and has responsibility for instructing, directing, and checking the work of other Business Analysts. Formulate and define business and/or systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a thorough understanding of industry requirements.  Provide analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper business and/or system requirements. Consider the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment. Act as a team leader for complex projects.

Overall Responsibilities:

Responsible for implementing business solutions; from business concept and vision through delivery. This includes anticipating and defining business needs, developing actionable solutions recommendations, and working with IT organizations and other business functions to coordinate activities. As part of delivery, the person will be responsible for exploring business processes, integrating multiple sources of information, and presenting compelling findings and conclusions. 

•    Responsible for understanding the needs of business partners and stakeholders to ensure that solutions to business and/or system problems and opportunities are aligned to the needs of the organization
•    Perform analysis to determine current state capabilities and identify the capabilities needs for the future
•    Devise or modify procedures to solve highly complex problems, which include analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translating into proper business and/or system requirements. 
•    Documents business requirements using advanced business architecture techniques: business domain modeling, capability definition, value steam analysis, process workflows, etc.
•    Communicates, verifies, and gains approval of the requirements from stakeholders
•    Provides input to various other project documents such as project plans, estimates, readiness, or, defect management
•    Lead analysis of business processes, procedures, data, and rules
•    Leads business analysis across multiple parallel initiatives
•    Monitor and report on all requirements activities, expectations, and deliverables
•    Manage to estimates, approved funding, and forecasts
•    Facilitate and drive requirements gathering sessions
•    May create and maintain a business architecture reference state
•    Collaborate with senior business and systems leaders
•    Understand who to bring together to rapidly resolve issues
•    Continuous process improvement
•    Provide oversight of overall quality of work product
•    Negotiate and influence requirements direction
•    Mentor other business analysts
•    Assists in the evaluation, assessment and selection criteria of vendor or third-party software solutions that will achieve a desired business outcome

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years of experience as a business analyst
  • 2 years of mentoring experience
  • Seasoned individual capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Proven track record of working through ambiguity, and leveraging influencing skills, to execute on strategic objectives in a large corporate environment
  • Drives continuous improvement and efficiencies beyond own scope of responsibility
  • Ability to mentor other Business Analysts
  • Ability to work east coast hours

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree
  • 7 years of business analysis experience
  • 3 years of mentoring experience
  • Experience with IT projects in a financial industry
