As a Senior Accountant, General Ledger you'll play a critical role in the Controller's department. This role is responsible for operational accounting, controls and routine tax compliance related to SOPHiA GENETIC’s affiliates’ activities. In this role, responsibilities include, but are not limited to being the subject matter expert for general ledger account reconciliations and recording of day-to-day operational transactions including the accounting for the company’s compensation programs, preparing specialized reports and analyses, developing accounting procedures and controls. Previous experience with routine income tax and sales tax compliance is desirable in support of the tax and accounting functions. You will need to interact effectively with cross functional teams, including HR, Payroll, Tax, Treasury, Accounts Payable, Revenue and IT.

Requirements
Your Main Tasks Will Be
- Prepare and post general ledger journal entries and month-end close activities adhering to close calendar
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare various account analysis and financial statement fluxes for review
- Assist with financial statement preparations and supporting schedules
- Be a key part of the annual audit and quarterly reviews with external auditors, the accounting team, and executive management
- Record journal entries and prepare balance sheet reconciliations for Company’s payroll and compensation programs such as stock-based compensation
- Assist in the development, rollout and continuous improvement of procedures, process, accounting memos and internal control documentation
- Provide support to quarterly review/annual audits and application of new accounting guidance to ensure accordance with the accounting standards
- Support with quarterly/annual tax compliance for both income tax and Sales Tax in cooperation with tax and finance departments to ensure tax compliance for the local entity;
- Support special ad hoc projects as needed
The Successful Applicant
- Degree in Accounting or related.
- 1-3 years of related experience; with experience in tax compliance routine as a plus.
- Minimum of 1+ years spent in general ledger, month-end close and reconciliation experience in an ERP environment (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred)
- Experience with payroll and stock-based compensation accounting preferred
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills a must
- Strong accounting knowledge with ability to apply that knowledge to complex circumstances
- Strong work ethic and unquestionable integrity
- Ability to function independently and work with cross-functional teams in a highly dynamic and fast paced environment where priorities can shift rapidly
