The Opportunity

Investment Management (IM) is looking for an energetic, intellectually curious individual with strong analytical skills to join the team as an Investment Reporting & Communications (IR&C) Consultant. This role will support the investment reporting, communications, and strategy for MassMutual's General Investment Account. The IR&C Consultant will provide technical and analytical support to areas across IM and MassMutual. You will work with other IM analysts, IM portfolio managers, Enterprise Risk Management, Corporate Finance, and external asset managers.

Your day to day would include, but not be limited to:

  • Provide investment portfolio reporting and analysis for the Portfolio Management team, MassMutual's business and corporate units, the Investment Committee of the Board of Directors, and the rating agencies

  • Directly support portfolio managers, including monitoring portfolio cash flows, composition, risks, and performance; conduct special projects and analyses. Assess portfolio results for consistency with portfolio strategy objectives

  • Work closely with portfolio managers and research analysts to determine investment objectives and related system/analytical requirements

  • Serve as subject matter expert on enterprise sponsored data and reporting modernization project

  • Build best-in-class dashboards, operational reports, and workflow processes

  • Design and execute forecasting tools and other models that support investment decision-making

  • Proactively work across the organization by applying investment, accounting knowledge, and other technical skills to address both recurring and critical time-sensitive investment issues and communication needs

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients and/or intermediaries for investment reporting and communications for the General Investment Account

  • Provide internal and external clients with ongoing updates about investment philosophy, process, and performance

  • Participate in investment strategy meetings with portfolio managers; prepare liquidity forecasts, portfolio asset allocation, and on-demand exposure analysis

  • Work independently and with management on highly visible, divisional/cross-divisional complex projects

  • Be a key resource for resolution of unique or complex business problems

  • Advance the interests of the company by serving on teams that are external to the organization when appropriate

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or related major

  • A minimum of 8 years of investment reporting experience

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)

  • Experience in analyzing data using business intelligence software such as: MicroStrategy, IBM Cognos, Tableau or other equivalent reporting tool experience

  • Robust investment acumen with and understanding of fixed income and equity securities, alternatives, and derivatives for reporting and analysis

  • Strong communication skills and ability to condense analyses into written and oral presentations and actionable recommendations to portfolio managers

The Ideal Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or related major

  • Professional designation such as a CFA

  • Experience with Atlassian Jira and/or other project management tools

  • Knowledge of statutory investment accounting
