Job Summary

Nuance Communications is seeking a tax manager to join it’s Global Tax planning team. This role offers a unique opportunity to participate in a diverse range of tax planning projects and is not limited to a single area of specialization. This position is based in Burlington, Massachusetts and report to the Senior Director in charge of Global Tax Planning.

Job Responsibilities:

• Draft, review, and oversee internal and external advice, memoranda, opinions, transfer pricing strategy, governmental submissions, and ruling requests
• Technical understanding of US federal, state, and international tax, with particular emphasis on corporations, partnerships, cross-border and transfer pricing, compensation and benefits, and M&A
• Develop and analyze U.S. federal, state and international tax planning strategies to mitigate global tax risks and optimize efficiency with respect to operations and structure
• Develop and review financial models to quantify the impact of planning opportunities and legislative impacts
• Provide analysis and review to the tax reporting function as needed (i.e. forecasts, financial statement reporting, tax compliance)
• Collaborate with global cross-functional teams in Legal, Treasury, and Accounting,
• Excellent research and analytical skills, including written verbal communication skills
• Excellent organization, project management, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively with cross functional teams and meet targeted deadlines for project completion

Knowledge, SKills, Qualifications:

• Education: B.S. Accounting/Finance or a related field, Masters or LLM desired
• Years of experience: 6-8 years experience of relevant big 4 accounting and/or in-house corporate experience

Required SKills:

• Strong corporate tax dept experience building on a strong accounting background (ideal 
• Very storng design, implemetation and vetting experience in Tax planning
• Legal analysis and operationalizing tax initiatives
• Experience participating in strategic planning initiatives
• Proven experience taking plans to executed results with clear 
• Experience in working in a fast paced, nimble team environment
• Strong research and quantification skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Desired:

• Workng cross functionally with many differnt corproat groups
• Familiarity with ERP and Automation tools (ie. Alterix)
