The job of the Finance Intern is to support the organization while learning about a career in finance. Finance interns gain practical experience in the constantly-growing field of finance. Regular duties and responsibilities include helping perform research, preparing financial reports, assisting with reconciling accounts and Consolidation, and other duties, as needed. The Indigo Finance Internship will work predominantly with the Controller’s group (GL Accounting) and Financial Reporting teams. 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

• Finance interns will learn the monthly process of closing the books/finalizing the accounting
• Finance interns will learn how to research and apply technical accounting to a transaction or process
• Finance interns will understand and learn the requirements for financial reporting, including analytical description of business activities
  

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in the monthly close through various projects including reconciliations, investigation of accounts and drafting of fluctuation comments
• Assist in creating Standard Operating Procedures 
• Assist in minute documentation for Close meetings 
• Assist in Reporting on Month end Close key performance indicators (KPIs)
• Work with Master Data Management to assist in finalization and cleanup of inventory SKUs
• Assist in the monthly consolidation and management reporting process
• Assist in Research and Analysis of ASC 842 for new lease adoption
• Assist in reporting and analyzing quarterly financial data and results

COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS

• Current Undergraduate Student studying finance or a related topic
• Strong communications skills – strong verbal and written communication skills that support the ability to interact professionally both internally and externally with people at multiple levels of an organization to advocate for projects and achieve favorable results

• Strong analytical skills
