Finance Analyst - Financial Insights
MassMutual is building an agile and modern finance organization, where accounting, economics, and finance intersect with technology and quantitative methods to create actionable financial insights. We seek an energetic, motivated, and skilled Finance Analyst to join our team. As a Finance Analyst, you will be part of an interdisciplinary finance and analytics team in our Financial Planning & Analysis department that identifies and solves important business challenges, supports key cross-functional strategic initiatives across the enterprise, and applies modern quantitative methods across a broad range of business functions.
The Team
Our team is technically skilled, collaborative, and intellectually curious. We invest in team members’ professional development through exposure to a variety of industries, including asset management, insurance, and financial technology, while supplementing on-the-job experience with educational opportunities. You will apply financial modeling, business logic, and contemporary analytics tools to help frame and solve important business problems across multiple domains at MassMutual. Finance Analysts will build economic models, conduct deep forensic dives into our data, and improve the visualization and interpretation of complex, multi-dimensional data sets.
The Impact
- Create and deliver financial reports that provide, timely, actionable, and relevant financial insights to business partners
- Analyze drivers of business results and craft presentations to provide the key storyline to stakeholders
- Prepare financial models, including scenario analysis, to support decision making
- Develop dashboards using business intelligence tools like Tableau and MicroStrategy to report on key financial trends, evaluate the variance between Actuals, Plan, and Forecast, or enable “what-if” analysis
- Rapidly prototype and develop analytical models, using statistical approaches like regression, to evaluate problems, identify insights, and deliver predictions using MassMutual data
- Provide technical and quantitative support for MassMutual’s quarterly enterprise financial forecast
- Take deep dives into the nuances and details of our data
The Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in finance, economics, accounting, business administration, business analytics, or related quantitative field
- Demonstrated knowledge of data analytics skills, including regression analysis, hypothesis testing, data transformations, and visualization
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in small team settings, but also comfortable working individually
- Creative, energetic, and persistent problem solver
The Ideal Qualifications
- Knowledge of macro and micro economics, financial accounting, discount rates, net present value, bonds, and equities
- Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated experience with Tableau, PowerBI, or another business intelligence tool
- Demonstrated knowledge of programming skills in python, R, or other common programming language
- Knowledge of SQL or another database language
- Knowledge of advanced quantitative or statistical methods, including regression
- Knowledge of the life insurance industry and the financial services domain
