Key responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a high-performing and nimble team that can scale with company growth and acquisitions
  • Oversee operational Accounting areas, including General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Intercompany, Accounts Payable, and Payroll in the US
  • Direct the pre-consolidation financial close cycle activities for the US and provide timely and accurate financial reporting 
  • Develop and improve accounting processes, controls, systems, and infrastructure to scale with business growth
  • Identify and implement process improvements and drive efficiencies in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Ensure Balance Sheet reconciliations are preformed timely and accurately to support the monthly close
  • Coordinate monthly/quarterly flux analysis ensuring insightful commentary and consistency across account owners
  • Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and integrity of reporting, controls, processes, and systems
  • Partner with FP&A on accounting impacts to financial resultsInput into budget/forecast process
  • Ensure compliance with and adherence to company accounting policies 
  • Partner with Technical Accounting team on complex accounting matters and implementation of accounting standards
  • Coordinate with Corporate Accounting and Consolidation teams on closing activities Work closely with internal and external audit Implement and maintain internal controls and financial close best practices
  • Partner with business leaders on integration of acquisitions to ensure consistency in processes and reporting with no disruption to accounting or business operations
  • Collaborate with key cross-functional partners and teams to support business objectives
  • Partner with SEC Reporting & Consolidation function to streamline the close and reporting process
  • Liaise with IT partner on financial system needs, design, and implementation
  • Monitor/benchmark best practices and implement accordingly
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis as needed 

What you bring to the party

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business; Accounting degree
  • CPA required; MBA a plus
  • 10+ years of experience in industry, including 5 years in a leadership role; public accounting experience a plus 
  • Retail industry and/or e-commerce experience a plus
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX 
  • Effective at virtually managing a sizable team in multiple locations
  • Experience with system implementations/upgradesUnderstanding of workflows and processes across accounting operations areas
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships
  • Works effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing deadlines
  • Possess agility and can adapt quickly to changes and possesses
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Attention to detail with ability to see big picture
  • Ability to clearly articulate an issue or point of view to an audience of different functions and/or levels 
  • Analytical mindset and critical thinker
  • Ability to work both individually and within a team environment, build positive relationships and maintain rapport with peers and executives
  • Strong work ethic with willingness and ability to dig into details to accomplish tasks and complete projects
  • Proactive and organized with excellent planning and project management skills

Our office is about 15 miles southwest of Boston and is nestled between the commuter rail station, restaurants, town commons, and locally-owned shops.
