Notarize is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join our growing team. The Director of Accounting will be responsible for leading key aspects of the Company's finance and accounting functions, including month-end close, consolidation, financial reporting and certain business operations. In addition to managing other members of the accounting team, the Director of Accounting will work cross-departmentally to build-out and improve key financial processes. Reporting to the VP, Finance, this leader will be a true partner to the organization, with cross-functional and leadership exposure through the organization.

What you’ll do as the Director, Accounting & Finance at Notarize:

  • Provide oversight of day-to-day financial operations including general accounting, accounts payable, payroll, and regulatory reporting
  • Manage timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial accounting results and related financial reporting through the close and consolidation process
  • Interact with current and prospective investors 
  • Lead the relationship with our independent auditors and manage the annual audit process
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce technical accounting policies and procedures in accordance with US GAAP and other rules and regulations
  • Analyze and present critical financial matters to the VP, Finance and Senior Leadership team, including quarterly and year-end financial statements and the annual budget.
  • Provide well-supported and documented interpretation of GAAP literature, identify relevant changes in accounting guidance and monitor processes for compliance with accounting literature
  • Evaluate and implement systems to further automate processes for efficiencies and effectiveness while enhancing internal controls
  • Oversee compliance and filings for all areas of tax, including corporate income and sales tax
  • Monitor cash management activities

What we’re looking for:

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, minimum of 4 years as an Senior Manager of Accounting or similar position in a high-growth technology company
  • Strong team leader with experience building, managing and developing a global team
  • Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP, with SaaS experience preferred
  • Proven project management skills with a focus on timeliness and high-quality results
  • Effective problem solving, methodical, detail-oriented, innovative, and highly analytical
  • Ability to think creatively, highly-driven and self-motivated
  • Excellent communication and presentations skills; comfortable interacting with senior management to provide updates and insight into best practices for ongoing priorities
  • Enthusiastic about operating both strategically and tactically - working hands-on alongside team members when necessary
