The Controller will be the accounting backbone of the company, working closely with all team members to drive decision making. In this role, you will be responsible for all accounting operations and will be developing core processes and systems critical to the success of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and coordinating all accounting operational functions
  • Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
  • Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements
  • Coordinate activities of external auditors
  • Provide management with information vital to the decision-making process
  • Manage the budget process, along with our FP&A resources
  • Assess current accounting operations, offer recommendations for improvement and implement new processes
  • Evaluate accounting and internal control systems
  • Develop and monitor business performance metrics in partnership with the finance and operations team
  • Oversee regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance
  • Assist in developing banking relationships for current and future debt financing needs
  • Lead, develop, implement and maintain the internal systems and financial controls consistent with Lightmatter’s policies and regulatory guidelines, ensuring compliance with all tax and corporate requirements and filings
  • Understand and document reporting needs, collaborate on operational issues, develop creative solutions, and provide business guidance and insight through financial reporting
  • Work with management and HR in managing recruitment, pay equity, wage planning, compliance, and option strategy
  • Develop cost models for the companies products and product line P&Ls
  • Administer/develop cash investment strategy
  • Manage the opening, compliance and reporting for any subsidiaries in other countries

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience with a mix of public accounting and public or private company experience
  • CPA and/or equivalent required
  • Strong ERP systems experience, preferably in NetSuite
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC rules and regulations, and reporting requirements
  • Understanding of corporate tax management and ability to work with tax specialists to ensure tax compliance
  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex concepts and risk factors to stakeholders and influence decision making
  • Experience working in high-growth environments with strong processes and controls, superior project management, organizational and documentation skills
  • Excellent knowledge in assessing, developing, and implementing internal controls
  • Ability to turn complex data and topics into simple and easily understood reports
  • Well developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with a solid attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the semiconductor or computer hardware industry
  • Excitement around navigating a hyper-growth, rapidly changing, and sometimes ambiguous environment
  • Passion for rolling up your sleeves to get the job done and wearing several hats in a dynamic growth environment
