Toast, a leading POS provider and payment facilitator serving the restaurant industry, is seeking an experienced payments compliance professional to provide clear and actionable, cross-functional guidance on payments regulatory matters, enhance and maintain a robust compliance program designed to meet the requirements of card networks, processor and bank partners, and applicable laws, and inform the design of new product features and services related to card processing to ensure compliance with network rules. Prior experience with payment card products is required.
About this roll* (Responsibilities)
- Maintain and evolve a robust compliance program ensuring that Toast’s card processing products and services comply with all applicable state and federal laws, payment network rules, industry best practices, and contractual requirements, including by creating new policies and controls as may be needed, testing plans, and reporting mechanisms
- Provide clear and actionable guidance on a wide range of payments compliance matters to stakeholders and cross-functional team members at all levels, including Payments, Marketing, Engineering, and Strategic Partnerships
- Assist with the design of innovative product features related to payment cards, digital payment, and e-commerce to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including payment network rules, card association rules, and consumer protection laws
- Coordinate and advise on responses to audits, regulatory inquiries, and escalated issues
- Monitor new and evolving regulatory changes that may impact Toast’s payments business, and assist with operationalizing and implementing compliant solutions
- Design and deliver targeted training programs designed to educate cross-functional teams about regulatory issues, enable teams to promote payments products and services in a compliant manner, and support an enterprise-wide compliance culture
Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)
- At least 8 years of experience as a payments compliance professional with a deep knowledge of payments and card products. JD not required, but is a plus
- Strong knowledge of financial and payments regulation, particularly as they apply to PayFacs, including card association and payment network rules, prepaid card rules, and laws applicable to acquiring, treasury, payouts, and issuing, commercial and consumer credit, PCI/DSS, BSA/AML, and CFPB regulations
- Direct experience with payments industry compliance and product/service features, including various card processing pricing models
- Advanced ability in analyzing risk and designing efficient controls to minimize risk
- Strong writing skills and the ability to communicate information about complex regulatory issues to stakeholders in a clear and easy to understand way
- Ability to develop creative and adaptive solutions to unique and complex product design inquiries
