Responsibilities:

  • Directing all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll and financial reporting.
  • Engaging with Risk Capital partners to ensure timely monthly, quarterly and annual reporting. 
  • Assisting with negotiating new Risk Capital Contracts, working with internal and external partners to ensure successful launch of new programs. 
  • Develop revenue recognition accounting policy for our multiple revenue streams. 
  • Ensure timely completion of monthly P&Ls, Balance Sheets and Cash Flows.
  • Developing and coordinating all relationships with financial institutions, lenders and other partners. 
  • Develop cash management strategy and investment policy. 
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Claims, Operations and Executive team to drive initiatives across the business and scale operations. 
  • Provide financial and strategic thought leadership supported by rigorous analysis, with a focus on business planning, corporate strategy, and capital allocation. 
  • Developing and maintaining all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting. Ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Assisting senior management in financial planning and results management. Work with other team members to understand revenue and cost drivers and define appropriate reports for tracking.
  • Coordinating and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Coordinating and/or preparing tax schedules, returns and information.
  • Managing all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property and other applicable taxes.
  • Building an accounting department as the company grows, other finance and administrative duties as required.
  • Manage IT and IT support team across the business. 

Knowledge, Skills And Qualifications:

  • CPA or Master’s degree in a business, financial or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 12 or more years of experience in managing an accounting function in a medium or large-size company. 
  • Excellent computer skills and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Experienced background in organizational effectiveness and operations management including implementing and designing best practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives.
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
  • Excels at operating in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Excellent people manager, open to direction and collaborative work style with a strong commitment to get the job done in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organization.
  • Ability to look at situations from several points of view
  • Persuasive with details and facts
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively
  • High comfort level working in a diverse environment
