The Grommet is seeking a Manager of Accounting to oversee and direct all financial accounting activities.  The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, internal and external financial reporting and compliance with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings including sales tax filings. This person will report to the VP of Finance & Operations.

KEY ACTIVITIES

  • Manage and develop an accounting team of 2-4 individuals, including investing in and contributing to the advancement of their personal growth

  • Oversee the Month End Close process and work towards automation of procedures

  • Issue timely and complete financial statements

  • Extensive experience with preparing and interpreting all three financial accounting statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow)

  • Establishing, monitor, and enforce policies and procedures using GAAP principles and maintain effective GAAP-compliant internal controls

  • Monitor and maintain cash balances in partnership with the VP of Finance & Operations.

  • Identify and execute on opportunities to streamline accounting systems in partnership with other business stakeholders

  • Help document and implement internal controls including policies and procedures manuals

  • Sales tax compliance

  • Oversee payroll in coordination with parent company payroll processing.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field, Master’s or CPA preferred

  • 4 - 6 years of related accounting and finance experience

  • Propensity to lead a team in a fast past environment a must

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Experience automating processes is a plus

  • Experience with MS Excel, including technical concepts like Vlookups and pivot tables 

  • Familiarity with Google applications a plus
