Accounting Manager
The Accounting Manager is responsible for the financial accounting and reporting needed to support the business and provides input and independent judgment to management on the operational direction of the company. This role will analyze and resolve complex accounting issues, develop and maintain effective internal controls, including preparation of account reconciliations, and install best practices within the organization. The Accounting Manager will work closely with senior leadership while ensuring that the company has the systems, processes, and controls in place to scale and support cale growth.
This key position, requires a strong understanding of the overall business organization and functions, including performing reviews of existing business processes and internal controls, making recommendations for improvement, and driving implementation, all while communicating with management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage a team of 3 staff accountants
- Conduct monthly close along with financial statement review and variance analysis this includes analyzing costs, trends, and financial commitments and obligations
- Lead and manage all department process improvements and implement new financial system
- Collaborate with FP&A team members to ensure timely month-end reporting to management
- Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with all levels of the organization. Create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
- Maintain accurate internal and external accounting records and documentation.
- Participate and compile information for filings, including annual tax return and external audit
- Review all customer and vendor contracts for appropriate accounting treatment
- Serve as a key internal resource for all technical Accounting initiatives and questions. Work closely with internal and external customers.
- Support a variety of ad-hoc projects and analysis
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5-7 years of accounting experience, with prior team management experience
- Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage independent timelines and tasks.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and experience with Quickbooks, NetSuite, or another financial system
- Previous experience automating financial processes a plus
- Solid analytical, problem solving and financial troubleshooting skills
- Passion for working in an exciting fast paced and changing environment
- CPA strongly preferred
