What​ ​You’ll​ ​Do

You’ll be leading the front-end engineering team at Boston’s fastest-growing travel tech startup. You’ll collaborate directly with the CTO and senior product and design staff to build, ship, and iterate amazing travel products. You’ll leverage your leadership capabilities to build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team. You’ll shape the PlacePass experience and articulate our vision for the brand via user interface, front end, and web application development. You’ll be our expert on the latest front-end engineering technologies, and ensure we’re selecting the right tools and frameworks to rapidly deliver quality products to market, with a lens on quality, performance, and scaling. Drawing on your prior start-up or relevant experience, you’ll help ensure our place as the unquestioned leader in travel technology.

You’ll​ ​take​ ​the​ ​lead​ ​and​ ​help​ ​us...

• Produce our next generation of industry-leading travel technology products, working directly with the CTO and product team
• Define and execute our front end technology vision
• Attract top engineering talent, provide career coaching and personal development support, and create an environment that promotes growth, learning, and innovation
• Champion best UI/UX practices, and test concepts and enhance conversion through usability studies, A/B tests, prototyping and other research
• Shape product direction, technical requirements, and roadmap in close collaboration with functional leaders
• Evaluate traffic, and recommend content and user flow changes
• Build for performance and scale, in a rapidly evolving environment

Requirements

• Demonstrated success leading software development organizations and supervising professional engineering staff through complex projects
• 10 years of experience writing and building highly performant software, ideally in an e-commerce setting, including 5+ years of leadership experience with increasing scope and responsibility
• 5 years of experience in Rails and/or other relevant experience in MVC frameworks
• Prior experience successfully implementing Agile methods
• Broad exposure to a variety of industry frameworks, tools, and technologies utilized in implementing e-commerce solutions
• Experience in highly distributed architectures leveraging common cross-cutting patterns
• Exposure to distributed (geo-located) teams
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Background in frontend software development is a must
• Start-up experience strongly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
