The Position

We’re looking for a hands-on engineering manager who can help launch our first-generation product and lead a nimble, collaborative team building a best-in-class integrated experience with a powerful mission. This role mixes people management, technical leadership, strategic planning, and hands-on development work alongside Touchlab engineers on cutting edge technology. You will be responsible for executing on the business vision in a rapidly evolving business environment, which will require creativity, organization, efficiency, a solid knowledge of project management and experience launching new products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • People-management: Shape, manage and grow the engineering culture and development processes and put the tools in place to deliver rapidly and consistently as we scale.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders through the product development process to plan, manage, build, and launch new product experiences that over-deliver on promised timelines and expectations. Ensure we’re shipping high-quality code and products by creating transparent KPIs and implementing strong QA practices while promoting ownership and accountability.
  • Manage technical breadth: source, design scopes of work, and manage contractors to fill technical gaps and deliver key projects quickly to supplement the work being done by the Flare engineering team
  • Some hands-on work: spend about 5-15 hours a week in the code

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Software Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Senior level expertise/knowledge of frontend and backend software engineering, including best practices, scrum management, data structures, algorithms, API design, and mobile app development
  • A successful history of taking products through launch and leading teams through rapid iteration cycles
  • Familiarity with several of the following languages, technologies, and frameworks:
    • React and React Native
    • Kotlin Multiplatform
    • Python and Linux
    • Relational and NoSQL storage, preferably including PostgreSQL
  • Interest in or experience with IoT devices and beacon technology
  • Authorized to work in the U.S
