The Role

EverTrue is looking to add a passionate team member to manage our Engineering team and help shape the future of fundraising software. This person must be excited about managing engineers across a wide spectrum of career stages, dedicated to refining engineering processes to consistently improve efficiency and quality, and excited to represent the engineering team both within EverTrue and externally through excellent communication skills.

The EverTrue platform gives fundraising teams a comprehensive view of every donor by connecting each institution’s proprietary alumni data with a suite of 3rd party sources including Facebook, FullContact, Zillow, EventBrite, and Emma. This data layer provides the foundation for best-in-class, mobile-first workflow tools to engage alumni, discover prospects, manage portfolios of donors, and raise the critical funds needed by our customers. 

Today, many of the largest universities in the country and more than half of the US World and News top 100 colleges and universities in the US rely on EverTrue. We are headquartered in Boston but remote friendly, with close to half of the company fully distributed across the US.

Backed by Bain Capital Ventures and University Ventures, the company is cash flow positive and is fortunate to be expanding the team today despite the broader economic uncertainty. 

Responsibilities:

• First and foremost, you are focused on managing, mentoring, and advocating for an exceptional team of Engineers. You consistently focus on how you can improve Engineering at EverTrue by continuing to cultivate the people and culture and build a truly exceptional company.
• As an executive team member you will represent Engineering in setting company strategy and goals, and growing your team as needed.
• You seek to constantly improve product and engineering processes, balancing qualitative feedback from the team and broader company along with more quantitative assessment.
• You work with Product leadership to review strategy and set (and then hit!) appropriate strategic deadlines, facilitating appropriate team-wide processes to do so.
• As a career manager to a team of Engineers, you enjoy guiding their professional development.
• You are the primary technical hiring manager, and outward facing evangelist representing the company. You enjoy professional networking and are able to hire and retain great talent representing a diverse mix of perspectives and life experience.
• You market the work of your team to the larger company, connecting the nuts and bolts of daily delivery to company strategy. You are able to effectively balance the drive for new features with the need to maintain a rock solid platform — e.g. stability, performance, latency and quality.

Our Current Team & Tech Stack

• Engineering Team of 11 with additional roles both open now and projected for later this year 
• Stack consists of ReactJS, iOS, Java and Ruby
• Data Infrastructure – ElasticSearch, Redis, Memcached, MySQL, Spark, Storm, Kafka, Mesos
• APIs – Rails w/ Passenger & Java w/ Dropwizard, migrating to a containerized ECS model
• AWS Infrastructure – EC2 Servers automated by Chef, CloudFormation
