Hardware Systems Test Engineer
American Robotics is seeking a Test Engineer to help with verification, test, and quality control of our fully automated drone solution. This position offers you opportunities to be a key contributor to our rapidly growing company and business, with the potential to lead up the system test and quality control segments of our product development as well as be a part of the highly motivated and dynamic technology development team. You need to be analytical, creative, hands-on with robotics and drones, diligent and live and thrive in a fast-paced team that is result-oriented and values excellence.
Responsibilities
You will work directly with the company's engineering team to help verify and test our autonomous drone system. Main responsibilities include:

  • Design test procedures to validate performance of both electro-mechanical and software sub-systems
  • Perform hands-on and data-driven root cause analysis of mechanical and electrical subsystems utilizing common problem solving methodologies
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to support engineering test projects
  • Work independently on-site with minimal supervision
  • Provide input to engineering teams on system operation, performance and any related issues or problems
  • Develop automated and manual test fixtures to qualify hardware and enable reliability as well as manufacturing test


Requirements

  • BS/MS in Software, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field
  • Experience in R&D Test Engineering preferably in an aerospace or robotics field
  • Familiarity with a laboratory and industrial work environments
  • Strong engineering aptitude in both hardware and software
  • Familiarity prototyping and running your own tests, from experimental design to practical implementation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work in outdoor environments
  • Hands-on experience with assembling, operating and troubleshooting robotics and electro-mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with electronic test equipment, pc board rework, sensitive electronics diagnostics and electrical schematic
  • Knowledge of mechanical drawing specifications, tolerances, and critical dimensions
  • Comfortable with linux
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Ability to travel (20% +) and/or work remotely at customer sites


Great Additions:

  • Familiarity with ASTM standards related to systems verification
  • Active FAA Part 107 license, other aeronautical experience or certifications
  • Software scripting experience (python, bash, etc.)
  • Drone/robotics enthusiast; familiar with building and operating drones and other robots
