System Operations Engineer (Senior System Administrator)

In our drive forwards we are looking for a System Operations Engineer (Senior System Administrator) in Boston, Massachusetts.
We need somebody with analytical skills that is willing to take the challenge of helping us grow.
We need somebody that is a Systems Administrator at heart but promotes the need to keep systems secure, is comfortable in Linux environments and, by preference, has experience with cloud services like Azure or AWS. He/She will be focused on further improving the security posture of the development and production systems. Experience with Ansible, Terraform or Kubernetes will also be a plus. Part of the role will also involve helping automate, deploy and maintain our cloud infrastructure used in production by hundreds of clients as well as expanding the development clusters used by bioinformaticians.
The selected person will also have to be comfortable providing technical support to other internal teams. This includes bioinformaticians running complex pipelines in clusters as well as solving basic networking issues in the Boston office.
Responsibilities
- Suggest solutions to and remediate vulnerabilities
- Develop processes to maintain and optimize computing clusters
- Automate processes in Azure and other cloud providers like AWS, Google Cloud
- Help the bioinformaticians use the cloud efficiently
- Discuss with our clients about their infrastructure requirements and help them with our product
- Promptly resolve issues and perform maintenance tasks our infrastructure in production and in development
- Provide network and server hardware support in the Bidart office
Requirements
- Master’s in computer science or equivalent
- You have 5+ years of proven experience on similar position.
- Proven experience in a system security focused position
- Experience with Linux system administration
- Experience with Automation tools like Ansible or Puppet
- Experience with Kubernetes or another orchestrator tool
- Experience working on cloud native development and design in Azure or AWS
- Experience with Terraform or another provisioning tools
- Be proficient in maintaining Linux environments, especially CentOS
- Be analytical and figure out why something does not work as it should (detailed root cause analysis)
- Take responsibility for their work and be cautious
- Be able to work independently
- Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp new technologies
- Strong team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
- Highly proficient in spoken and written both English and French (Other languages are an plus)
