Job Description

As a member of one of our Technology teams, you will contribute to building solutions that use natural language processing, cognitive computing, and artificial intelligence applications or the frameworks and infrastructure that support them.

Position Overview:

Interactions Corporation is building a high-performance Spoken Conversation Understanding platform – an advanced AI system that “listens” to, and understands, human-to-human customer care conversations, and is capable of reacting to them in real time.

As Senior Software Engineer - R&D, you will be implementing complex functionality, with minimal impact on CPU or latency, in code that is easy to understand and revise. You will be part of a highly collaborative team, with opportunities to contribute to all aspects of the system: the real-time event-driven engine, its integrations into customer care environments, the low-latency natural language processing technology and the associated offline machine learning tools and data pipelines, and the logging and analytics for tracking performance.
The ideal candidate will have at least some experience with telecom infrastructure and VoIP – in particular with call center integration, real-time audio processing, and/or communication protocols – combined with the interest, skills and drive to learn new technologies and apply them in the most challenging situations.

Essential Job Functions*:

  • Software design and development, in Python, C++, and Linux, in an agile framework.

  • Follow production software through test, deployment, performance measurements, and customer feedback.

  • Identify, specify an prototype new functionality, and generally devise innovative solutions to customer problems and opportunities, in collaboration with the extended Interaction research and development organization

  • Assume a leading roll in call center integration

  • Learn and use new tools, new technologies and new skills.

  • Support QA, by contributing to test suites and to automated test frameworks.

  • Provide customer technical support.

Preparation, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • B.S. or equivalent, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • A minimum of 4 years work experience in software development, using C++ and python in a linux environment.

  • Highly desirable: Experience with call center hardware and integration, and with VoIP-related protocols, , including developing and deploying code that directly interacts with SIP protocols, rtp packets, and the like.

  • Pluses: Experience with any of the following:  real-time systems, event-driven systems, data engineering, audio processing, machine learning, natural language processing, speech recognition.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Works effectively in a team and as a self-directed individual contributor.

  • Curious about how things work, energized by technical challenge.
