Solutions Integration Engineer
At RightHand Robotics, we have a rapidly growing and highly capable engineering team building robotic piece-picking solutions and deploying them around the globe. Our product has to be reliable enough to run non-stop on production fleets of robots in the world’s largest warehouses. If you’re simultaneously excited and a bit terrified about what this could mean for you, good! If working hands-on with robots on a daily basis intrigues you, read on!
We are seeking a self-motivated individual to join our growing hardware team as a Mechanical Integration Engineer. You will interact with customers and our solutions designers to understand the workflows and material flows used in e-commerce warehouses. Your primary responsibility will be to design the physical workspaces and supporting structures that are needed to make our robots perform piece-picking tasks in varied environments. You will produce complete designs and documentation, prototype and test components and assemblies, and work closely with manufacturers and fabricators to turn your custom-designed parts into reality.
You will join a diverse team with expertise spanning hardware, software and solutions design, and can expect regular interaction with members of the engineering, business, and deployment teams.
You will need:
- Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks)
- Experience with the design and fabrication of sheet metal and welded support structures
- The ability to collaborate with solutions designers, deployment engineers, and customers to execute simultaneous high-stakes projects
- Hands-on skills to prototype and rapidly develop and test ideas
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to present designs to customers and partners who do not necessarily have engineering backgrounds
- The flexibility to work on more than one project at a time, managing and communicating progress vs. agreed upon timelines and priorities
- To travel ~20% of the time (including internationally) to meet with customers and partners as needed
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Bonus skills:
- A strong desire to work with robots
- Familiarity with material handling equipment and e-commerce warehouse processes
- An understanding of the basics of ergonomic design, since some human interaction with the robots is often a necessary component of customer workflows
- Experience with machine guards, gates, fences, cages, and other safety equipment
- Previous exposure to PLM and PDM tools and processes for revision control of engineering documentation
