As a Software Tech Lead on the R&D team at WHOOP, you will work closely with engineers across disciplines within the R&D group, and other teams within the organization, to build and maintain internal tools to facilitate the development of the next generation of WHOOP technology. You will lead the technical direction and implementation of these tools, bridging the gap between hardware, software, and data. You’ll also provide mentorship and guidance for other software engineers and help set processes to support the growing software group within R&D.

You’ll work on a nimble team in a fast paced environment, across software domains including mobile, web front-end, backend, and more. Ultimately your efforts will accelerate the deployment of new technology in the market.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work collaboratively in a R&D environment adapting to rapidly evolving requirements
• Contribute to full stack development: JavaScript, Python, APIs, and SQL
• Manage and prioritize software development efforts to support ongoing R&D initiatives and maintaining accountability to tight timelines
• Help define internal processes for software development
• Significant experience with different modern websites and application frameworks
• Quickly and consistently design, implement, and deliver features, cranking on code, and PRs with an iterative approach
• Oversee the ingestion, transformation, and display of time series data from hardware, enabling the visualization of and interaction with the data between other members of the engineering teams
• Increase application stability and maintainability to enable efficient updates to support future features and needs
• Communicate effectively with immediate and external team member

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 6+ years of Full Stack Experience (JavaScript, HTML & CSS required)
• Experience with Python backend APIs and frameworks and infrastructure (AWS)
• Expertise in modern web frameworks (React preferred, AngularJS useful) and database query language such as SQL
• Experience utilizing tools such as CSS pre-processors, Docker, Protractor, and version control such as Git
• An innate passion for approaching large scale problems through small, data informed, and experiment driven iterations
• Willingness to be both a team player and an owner
• Ability to learn and grow rapidly to meet the fast evolving needs of the R&D department
