Software QA Manager
SmarterTravel is on a journey to revolutionize the $1 trillion travel and leisure industry. We believe that careful application of advanced AI and machine learning approaches can make travel more consumer-centric and less transaction. We are looking for a Software Quality Assurance leader who will be our first QA hire and will have the opportunity to build up the function and the team from scratch.
As a hands-on QA Manager, you'll have the responsibilities of a QA engineer to start, ensuring all code updates to our site are appropriately tested and have minimal risk of causing site downtime. Ultimately, you'll build and lead a team who will manage the bulk of the QA engineering responsibilities, but you will remain a player-coach throughout. What you'll do
- Collaborate with stakeholders to help establish release process
- Establish and manage processes for both automated and manual testing
- Work with the infrastructure team to plan and implement a QA environment
- Build (from scratch) and then manage a team of QA specialists who will:
- Work with design and analyst teams to create and maintain test plans for all active products
- Help engineering teams develop clear and meaningful unit, integration, and acceptance tests
- Develop and maintain a process for creating test cases from planned features, and ensure full test coverage of the product spec
- Build and manage an automated testing framework and performance tests
- Work closely with the customer support team to track user-facing and user-reported issues and take ownership of escalating them appropriately
The ideal candidate will have...
- 3+ years of experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer or Software Engineer.
- 2+ years of experience with a variety of different testing techniques such as UI Testing, Automated Testing, Test Driven Development Strategies. and other, and 2+ years of experience with software QA tools and processes
- 2+ years of people management experience
- A sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the company's success.
- Demonstrated problem solving capabilities and the ability to build processes from scratch and evangelize them within an organization
- Demonstrated experience with increasingly complex projects
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to prepare and deliver information in a clear and concise manner
