We are more than just another tech company. There is an intellectual curiosity that occurs at Drizly. We have a desire to question, to understand, to figure it out. Bottom line, we solve it. We value not just the truth but the process to get to the truth, to deliberate, decide and then act. Most importantly, we care. We care about our customer. We care about our company. We care about our team. There will be long days and incredible challenges.

We are blazing a trail in an industry that hasn’t changed in nearly a century, and that doesn’t scare us (well, not all the time) -and even when it does, it doesn’t stop us, it energizes us.

Do you see yourself here? Read on.

Who you are

You are a tech-savvy engineering leader that thrives on the balance of coaching teams while also building things with real-world applications that you and your friends could talk about. Comfort with learning and adopting new technologies helps you keep your technical skills fresh, so you’re someone who’s comfortable experimenting until you find the tech that works. You also get energized from imparting those learnings on junior team members. You enjoy optimizing current processes and designing new processes that allow you to get work done efficiently. You have the experience, instincts, and analytical mindset to make quality, timely decisions.

Coworkers would describe you as a flexible, open communicator who can plan, align, and drive results with a strong engineering team. You are also someone who takes personal responsibility for your work and holds others accountable to do the same. You are passionate about designing systems that power great end-user experiences. You care deeply about system performance, especially where it impacts customers. You have worked in environments where you owned system design from the database to the API. You enjoy discussing these decisions with your peers and can explain their significance to external stakeholders.

You like to provide technical guidance to more junior team members. You are constantly looking for ways to improve the team's development practices. You are a believer in the value of thorough code review and test coverage.

You ideally have three to five years of experience working with front-end web technologies. We write most of our core systems in Ruby and Javascript, but we are flexible on your specific experience; we care more about general engineering acumen than any specific tech. We would be really impressed if you had experience in eCommerce, payment systems, or the food and beverage technology space.

What the role is

In this Engineering Tech Lead role, you will be an integral part of the engineering team, responsible for leading and growing a group of talented engineers, and be in the front lines of scaling our web application. By partnering closely with product managers, you will balance “having your hands on the keyboard” with leading design discussions for large projects and informing some of our largest decisions for your team. You will also recommend ways to improve our current technical processes and design your own technical processes that will result in a well-oiled machine of an engineering team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for some of the most critical parts of Drizly’s customer base like our web and app shopping experiences.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in technical design and architecture discussions with the team
  • Write well tested, performant code and participate in code reviews with the team
  • Provide technical guidance to more junior team members
  • Work with the engineering organization to level up technical processes, code quality, and system design
  • Consult with the business on the feasibility and/or level of effort required for certain projects

The Other Stuff:

  • Competitive salary
  • One-on-one professional coaching with an external expert
  • Health, Dental and Vision Insurance
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • 401(K) Plan
  • Added perks
  • You do you

You do you.

Drizly is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status
