Software Engineering Manager 

Our Engineering team is staffed by fantastic engineers who are building innovative, world class security solutions using the latest technologies. You’ll be leading one or more teams that is on the front lines of the war on cyber-crime. Our software protects customers from small to medium businesses all the way through 34 of the fortune 100. We are ingesting petabytes of data and using state of the art techniques to deliver prevention and detection capabilities in real time, at scale. You’ll be working across the organization to ensure our customers’ assets are safe, and growing high-performing teams in a competitive market.  

What You’ll Do 

The VMware Carbon Black Cloud engineering team is looking for a results-oriented Engineering Manager. You will be responsible for successfully delivering quality products to meet the business objectives of the team. This will be achieved through leadership of two distributed scrum teams and close collaboration with partners in Product Management, our Architects, and our customer community. 

What You’ll Bring 

• Project management experience with Agile methodologies 

• Experience mentoring junior developers, and growing their careers 

• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operational health 

• Experience collaborating with other technical teams, senior management, and customers 

• Ability to refine requirements and instill quality practices in the development process 

• Ability to attract top talent and incorporate them into a highly functional and fun team 

• Experience operating in an AWS or other cloud environment, including an understanding of costs 

• Ability to effectively determine and manage priorities independently 

Bonus Points: 

• B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or related degree 

• Background and interest in Security 

• Understanding in NoSQL and/or Search Indexing technologies 

• Experience in CI/CD Environments
