Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Search Team based in Boston, MA. We are seeking a passionate and creative Senior Search Engineer to build and scale our core backend search platform. You will work on tackling challenging problems in the information retrieval domain and will continue to innovate on core search areas such as indexing, query understanding, autocomplete, search relevancy, predictive search, and metrics tracking.

What you'll do:

Create highly visible and modern backend search products and drive innovation
Design and develop massively scalable services to provide a continuously improved search experience
Work on meaningful initiatives to help pet parents find the right products for their pet’s needs
Collaborate with other teams across the organization to build search products

What you'll need:

BS in Computer Science
5+ years of experience building custom search stacks, or equivalent experience with open-source technologies like Lucene, Solr, or Elasticsearch
Experience with JAVA and Springboot applications
Experience writing and maintaining scalable and distributed search infrastructure solutions for high traffic applications
Familiar with Git, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines used to automate build and deployment

Bonus:

Experience with deploying microservices to AWS or other cloud platforms
