We are looking for a hungry and highly-motivated Software Engineer to join our newly formed Consumer Technology Team. You will have an immediate impact in growing our online consumer business through greenfield service and product development, rapid iteration and experimentation as well as helping set standards for code quality, testing, uptime, and reliability of a team which is expected to triple in size over the next year.

What you'll work on:

  • Contribute to the development, design, implementation, and maintenance of mission-critical front end and back end projects for our Consumer Technology Team
  • Ship production code to a product used by a large and growing audience
  • Work closely with product, marketing and business stakeholders to learn what metrics drive a high-growth consumer company to be successful and show us how different technologies can be integrated to quickly make a huge difference.
  • Sample projects include: user activity behavioral analysis and prediction, automated communication systems, subscription-based loyalty programs, data-driven product recommendations, shipping and fulfillment service integration, mobile-first visual overhaul, customization and personalization products and administrative UI’s and tools for product and marketing

You'll be great if you:

  • Have past experience working with Ruby on Rails and a modern front end framework within a consumer startup
  • Have a history in developing high-availability, cloud-based platforms and shipping code
  • Care and have opinions about API design, structure, and security standards
  • Have a strong understanding of common development patterns, data structures, and algorithms, as well as familiarity with any flavor of SQL and data architecture (MySQL, Postgresql, Redshift, etc.)
  • Are strong at communicating both with a highly technical engineering team and business partners
  • Are looking to work on an exciting and tangible consumer product that your friends and family will understand and loveCare about measuring and testing everything because data is king here at Lovepop

What you'll bring to the table:

  • Undergrad or graduate degree, CS degree strongly preferred
  • 3+ years of software development experience, ideally on a fast-moving lean/agile development team
  • Prior experience in the consumer space or with API design / full stack work for modern, single-page web applications
  • Experience with a bunch of cool technologies/architectures that can contribute to setting and solidifying our technical direction for years to come.
  • Have an eye towards rapid iteration while still ensuring security, reliability, and operational scalability.
  • Have contributed to delivering a key component or system for a product that was successfully launched

Our Stack:

  • Microservice based back-end services, Rails and React on the front-end. We use Shopify as our storefront, CMS, and billing service so we can spend our time solving new and interesting problems, not building yet-another-shopping-cart. We use AWS heavily and are building for high-availability and operational maturity from day one. We approach our development with a strong eye towards TDD on both the front-end and back-end.

At Lovepop, we believe that relationships are the most important things in our lives and people respond to things that are unexpected, personal. We build stronger relationships through products that truly let you connect with people you care for.
