We are more than just another tech company. We are passionate about shining a light on the cannabis industry, demystifying and destigmatizing current perceptions, and bringing a healthy curiosity to everything we do. We have a desire to question, to understand, and to figure it out, together. We value diverse experience, points of view, and perspectives, and we’re committed to deliberation, debate, and then decision. And at the center of every decision is our customer, and how we can do better and move faster for them.

We’re blazing a trail in an industry that’s changing fast. The speed energizes us and fuels our commitment to creating the leading customer experience in the space.

Who you are

You are a competent engineer that thrives on building things with real-world applications. You have a can-do-anything attitude, and are ready to tackle tough assignments. You know when to code things quickly and when to take the time to make sure things are reliable, you know your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and limits. You consider yourself a nimble learner, you’re willing to take on unfamiliar tasks, extract lessons and learn from failures and mistakes.

Coworkers would describe you as a flexible, open communicator that can balance taking action with driving results and you know/can clearly articulate the difference. You are also someone who takes personal responsibility for your work and holds others accountable to do the same.

You are passionate about designing systems that power great end-user experiences. You care deeply about system performance, especially where it impacts customers. You enjoy discussing these decisions with your peers and can explain their significance to external stakeholders.

You have three or more years of experience working on a team that uses Ruby on Rails. We write most of our core systems in Ruby, but we also use ElasticSearch, MySQL, PostgreSQL. We would be really impressed if you had experience with AWS, ElasticSearch or other eCommerce experience.

What the role is

In this Software Engineer role, you will be an integral part of the engineering team, responsible for executing on our product roadmaps against the back-end of our consumer and partner (think dispensary operations) tools with aggressive timelines during rapid growth. Since it’s a small team you’ll work closely with product managers, customer experience, marketing, and business development management teams, you will balance “having your hands on the keyboard” with leading design discussions for large projects and informing some of our largest decisions. You’ll work with senior engineering to learn and expand our systems.

Please note: this role can be performed remotely anywhere in the United States with the exception of Colorado.

In this role you will:

  • Work with Product, UX, and other stakeholders to design, implement, document and maintain features for different properties of the Lantern platform
  • Write well tested, performant code and participate in code reviews with the team
  • Work with the engineering organization to level up technical processes, code quality, and system design
  • Consult with the business on the feasibility and/or level of effort required for certain projects

The Other Stuff:

  • Competitive salary
  • One-on-one professional coaching with an external expert
  • Health, Dental and Vision Insurance
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • 401(K) Plan with Employer Match
