SOFTWARE ENGINEER II

 

Software Engineer II at Quick Base in Cambridge, MA will report to Quick Base’s Software Engineering Manager, and will develop the next generation platform for our highly successful SaaS businesses. The development team is currently developing interfaces to a variety of external services, creating awesome user experiences that simplify difficult tasks, and make the complex world of data integration accessible to non-technical users. A Software Engineer II’s responsibilities include approximately 70-85% hands-on coding. More specifically, Software Engineer II will be responsible for the following duties: Gathering functional requirements; Developing technical specifications, and project and test planning; Designing and developing web, software and mobile apps, prototypes, and proofs of concepts; Contributing to the design and architecture of Quick Base platform; Solving challenging programming and design problems using technical expertise; Resolving defects and bugs during quality assurance testing, pre-production, production, and post-release patches; and Working cross-functionally with product management, quality assurance, quality engineering, various product lines, and other business units to drive forward results.

 

Must have: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, or a closely-related technical or IT field, plus 2 years of software engineering experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer or similar position. Must also have (or experience must include): Experience with Agile Development, SCRUM, or Extreme Programming methodologies; Experience contributing to release and sprint planning and backlog management; Experience with unit testing, fault tolerance, data structures, complexity analysis, object oriented principles, and design patterns; Experience with modern web app development (REST, Continuous Integration and cloud-based architectures); Expertise in modern web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript); Expertise in object-oriented languages (Java, C++, C#, etc.) and SQL; Experience with JavaScript libraries such as jQuery, RequireJS, React or AngularJS; and Working knowledge of testing tools such as JUnit, JMeter, TestNG, etc.
