What You’ll Work On:

The Social team is responsible for many of Fitbit’s social products, including the Feed, our friend graph, user profiles, and other features that support social interactions on our platform. We are looking for a talented SDET to help shape the future of test and automation technology both on the Social team and across Fitbit. We’re seeking a proactive engineer who has a passion and proven track record for testing and automating products from concept to delivery.

You will be directly involved in owning our back end automation, helping to push forward our mobile automation, and driving the overall automation approach in general. You will collaborate with product managers, UI/UX designers, and developers on all our platforms and be a part of the full product development lifecycle. You will be working alongside an international team of talented and dedicated colleagues who have a common goal to help people lead happier, healthier lives. Our Social features, including backend services and mobile clients, are a vital part of our users’ experience and the Fitbit platform.

As a Software Development Engineer in Test, you will take on challenges in areas that may include:

  • Work in a cross-functional and highly collaborative Agile software development team
  • Design test specs and create test strategy for new and existing features
  • Create, prioritize, and organize test cases for both automated and manual execution
  • Define test framework requirements and develop modules to automate feature test cases
  • Create automated test tools to reduce manual test execution time
  • Execute and monitor results of automated suites within our CI infrastructure
  • Work with other engineers to increase manual and automated test coverage
  • Research evolving test and automation trends
  • Mentor team members on testing best practices, patterns and processes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree or experience
  • Great communication and collaboration skills
  • Passionate about technology, software development, and testing best practices
  • Proficient in Java
  • 5+ years of total experience in QA/Testing & Test Automation
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience building and maintaining automation infrastructure
  • An interest in developing your skill set to include mobile automation testing (iOS and Android)
  • Experience with Python
