We are currently looking for a new Site Reliability Engineer to join our team. As a Site Reliability Engineering Co-op, you will help us continue running our applications smoothly as our business scales. You'll develop automation software to provision, upgrade, monitor, and heal Tamr Cloud deployed on various public cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Compute, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft Azure.


Applicants must be currently pursuing either a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a technically related field and should be available for a 6-8 month co-op period from May 2022 to December 2022. This position is remote-friendly (US) depending on the candidate's location or can be based in our Cambridge, MA office.


What You'll Do as a Site Reliability Engineering Co-op:

  • Learn to create and maintain self-provisioning infrastructure using tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Docker.
  • Manage Tamr Cloud in development and production hosted on public cloud platforms.
  • Work with the team to respond to incidents, facilitate post-mortems and ensure closure of follow-up actions items.
  • Help us develop and drive real-time observability solutions that provide visibility into system health.
  • Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures.
  • Improving robustness by automation of workflows, process improvements, CI/CD pipelines, and integrating modern toolsets.

What You'll Bring:

  • Your experience with public cloud (preferably AWS or GCP) and provisioning automation.
  • Understanding of common scripting languages (Python, Bash).
  • Experience working with at least one object-oriented language (Java, .Net, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of networking and web concepts and ability to debug issues down to the packets
  • Understanding of the Linux/Windows command line and system operations
  • Working knowledge of basic systems metrics like CPU, memory, and processes.

Serious bonus points if you:

  • Experience working as DevOps/SRE/Systems Administration.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix system administration.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
  • Familiarity with automation tools like Helm, Terraform, and Ansible.
