We are looking for a hungry and highly-motivated Senior UI Engineer to join our brand new Consumer Technology Team. As an early hire on this new team, you will have an immediate impact in growing our online consumer business through creative design, rapid iteration, and experimentation on both product features and technical infrastructure as we build out our consumer platform for the future. You will help establish visual design standards and guidelines, component-driven application architecture, A|B test framework, and set the pace for code quality, test coverage, and maintainability.

What you'll do here:

  • Own key functionality in the front end of our technical platform through its entire lifecycle
  • Collaborate with product/stakeholders to flesh out definition, architect, discuss design tradeoffs and technology decisions, build it in a principled TDD manner, and own release and maintenance
  • Implement beautiful, responsive, and highly-usable interfaces that delight customers and measurably drive business growth
  • Use your design talents to suggest visual and usability enhancements around the site and even design your own A|B tests
  • Ship code
  • Sample upcoming projects include: mobile-first visual overhaul of product and collection listings pages, customization and personalization tools, subscription-based loyalty programs, data-driven product recommendations and upsells, administrative UIs and tools for marketing and product groups

You’ll be great if you:

  • Have a background in front-end web development including modern web frameworks (React, Ember, etc.) or otherwise geek-out on the modern JavaScript ecosystem
  • Care about UI/UX with a strong eye for usability and always putting the customer first
  • Have a working knowledge of CSS / HTML and responsive design concerns
  • Have a basic understanding of common development patterns, data structures, and algorithms (e.g. all that CS101 stuff)
  • Are strong at communicating both with a highly technical engineering team and business partners
  • Are looking for a job where you work on an exciting and tangible consumer product that your friends and family will understand (and love)
  • Bring your expertise in a bunch of cool technologies/architectures
  • Are passionate about technology and want to contribute to setting and solidifying our technical direction for years to come
  • Have a visual design background with portfolio

What you'll bring to the table:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree, CS or Design degree strongly preferred
  • 3+ years software development experience with at least 1 year working with a modern JS framework, ideally on a fast-moving lean/agile development team
  • Prior experience in the Consumer space
  • Have owned, and successfully delivered, a key component or system for a product that was successfully launched

Our stack

  • Microservice based back-end services, Rails and React on the front-end. We use Shopify as our storefront, CMS, and billing service so we can spend our time solving new and interesting problems, not building yet-another-shopping-cart. We use AWS heavily and are building for high-availability and operational maturity from day one. We approach our development with a strong eye towards TDD on both the front-end and back-end.

At Lovepop, we believe that relationships are the most important things in our lives and people respond to things that are unexpected, personal. We build stronger relationships through products that truly let you connect with people you care for.
