The team

As a software engineer on the Content Technology team, you’ll be at the center of what makes Vistaprint unique: our graphic design content. Vistaprint is different from other e-commerce companies because our products are fully customizable. Our team is rebuilding the software that allows millions of customers to browse and select designs for their customized products. We’re a unique team within Vistaprint since we build both backend services and frontend web applications.

We’re currently a few months into a multi-year re-architecture, and we’ve already successfully tested our technology with customers. We’re building our systems from the ground up to create a modern, flexible platform that gives our business partners new levels of control. This translates into greenfield development, retiring legacy systems, and designing their replacements, and that’s where we need your help!

The role

In a typical day you might:

  • Work on a backend process that imports millions of design assets into a document store for efficient retrieval.

  • Add features to Vistaprint’s website that allow customers to browse and select designs.

  • Build React applications that allow internal users to manage and curate designs.

  • Collaborate on a co-worker's code review.

  • Participate in a design discussion for building a new service.

  • Work with team members and internal stakeholders to develop user interfaces that are both attractive and easy to use.

  •

If you are passionate about working with the latest web technologies, building elegant and performant user experiences, and seeing your software in front of millions of customers, then we encourage you to apply!

A successful candidate will:

  • Understand RESTful principals

  • Have a strong grasp of data modeling in relational and/or document databases

  • Be comfortable with the HTTP protocol

  • Have experience optimizing web applications for resiliency and performance

  • Show strong collaboration with teammates and stakeholders

  • Be passionate and enthusiastic about software engineering

  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, both oral and written

  • Have 2-5 years industry experience

  • Experience building frontends with React is a plus

Our technology Stack

  • Backend: C# and .NET Core, Apache Solr, Aurora PostgreSQL, and Entity Framework Core

  • Frontend: JavaScript, React 16, Node.js 12, Redux, TypeScript, and Material-UI

  • Amazon Web Services

  • Docker

  • Gitlab

  • Akamai CDN/Web Application Firewall

Why Vistaprint?

  • Competitive salary + comprehensive benefits

  • Flexible hours and great work-life balance

  • Offices in downtown Boston or just off I-95 in Waltham

  • Volunteer time off and matching charitable donations

Vista is a Remote-First organization with ability to hire in over 17 countries globally!

An Insider's view of Vista

How would you describe the company’s work-life balance?

Moving to a remote-first environment has really helped my work-life harmony, (having three children under the age of 8 can be a challenge in itself!) and as an award-winning company for flexible, remote work I was drawn to want to be a part of this.

Craig Fish

Channel Marketing Manager

What projects are you most excited about?

Vista is building an awesome new website using world class microservices architecture, working on many innovative and challenging projects and building a variety of data products. We are a very agile company and work in teams of data product owners, data scientists and data engineers. We are consistently improving ourselves and data products.

Dorina Alimadhi

Lead Data Engineer

How does the company support your career growth?

I have recently taken up a new role in Brand Activations, having worked in Marketing for two years at Vista. Remote-first removed so much pressure from the process. Asynchronous and remote work has also helped me remain in work while having a baby. Without remote-first, I would have felt more pressure to leave work to be the primary caregiver.

Stephanie Tzortzis

Program Manager, Brand Activations

How do you make yourself accessible to the rest of the team?

My favorite session of the week is the open office hours. On Thursdays, I set up a two hour meeting where I sit on our video call platform so my team can drop in and out whenever they want to is they need to have a chat with me.

Chris Goldson

Channel Marketing Manager

What is your vision for the company?

My vision as CDO is to transform Vista into one the world’s most iconic DnA-driven companies. We want all of Vistaprint to think of data like water: easily accessible, inexpensive and vital to our wellbeing. To turn this into a reality, we need to significantly grow our team massively over the next year.

Sebastian Klapdor

Chief Data Officer
