Senior Regulatory Engineer
At RightHand Robotics, we have a rapidly growing and highly capable team building robotic piece-picking solutions and deploying them around the globe. Our product has to be reliable enough to run non-stop on production fleets of robots in the world’s largest warehouses. If you’re simultaneously excited and a bit terrified about what this could mean for you, good! If working hands-on with robots on a daily basis intrigues you, read on!
We are seeking a self-motivated individual to join our growing hardware team as a Compliance Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the company’s robots have received any certifications necessary for them to be deployed to our customers’ facilities (focusing initially on the EU, North America, and Japan). You will lead the effort to comply with international standards for machinery, electrical safety, EMC, and other certifications. You will then coordinate the compilation of final documentation and testing results, and ensure that compliance markings can be applied to our products.
You will join a diverse team with expertise spanning hardware, software and product design, and can expect regular interaction with members of the engineering, business, and deployment teams.
You:
- Have experience with international standards for electrical and machinery safety (ISO 12100, ISO 10218-1 and 10218-2, IEC 60204-1, etc.). This includes defining functional safety system requirements, electrical design and construction requirements, labeling, testing and verification plans, operational procedures, etc.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to drive progress effectively in a cross-functional role
- Have managed compliance programs for industrial machinery, including:
- Identifying regional or country-specific requirements
- Project management of internal and external resources (setting and managing project schedules, identifying roadblocks or resource constraints, and ensuring smooth execution)
- Compiling and maintaining documentation to support declarations of conformity
You will:
- Spearhead the company’s efforts to achieve CE compliance for all European projects
- Establish project plans and drive execution on all compliance related activity - identify risks and requirements, create level of effort and schedule estimates, identify and manage project resources, track cost and effort against plans, and keep the leadership team updated on critical risks and roadblocks as they arise
- Work as both an individual contributor and project manager to align the resources necessary for success, whether they are internal (engineering, product, legal) or external (leveraging consultants, 3rd party testing laboratories, and external SME’s as necessary)
- Provide critical strategic input to the senior leadership team, define requirements and risks associated with new compliance requirements related to international expansion opportunities
- Run a tight ship in your relentless quest to keep stakeholders across the organization in line when it comes to processes for which you are responsible
Bonus points if you have:
- Led or participated in a risk assessment for a piece of complex machinery that is integrated into a larger machine system (ANSI/RIA 15.06, ISO 10218-2)
- Taken a product through EMC testing at an external agency
- Direct experience with standards and certifications outside North America and the EU
- Expertise in electrical engineering, and experience with material handling equipment
