Job Description

VMware Carbon Black is leveraging the power of big data analytics to provide our customers with the tools and visibility to stop attacks before they start. Our Carbon Black Cloud  platform is transforming cybersecurity by delivering a new generation of cloud-enabled security solutions to protect against the most advanced threats.

 

To deliver on this mission we are looking for a quality-focused Senior Member of Technical Staff to automate end-to-end test scenarios for full validation across all our products.  Our goal is to understand high-value customer workflows and develop and evolve a comprehensive automation platform for the continuous inspection of quality.

 

As a Senior MTS you’ll experience owning, leading, and guiding Engineering efforts to support this mission and benefit from a highly supportive, cooperative team using the latest in cloud and security technology.  

 

What You’ll Do

  • Work as a member of the Production Engineering team to understand test gaps and prioritize quality efforts.

  • Develop a vision for how current frameworks can be extended to support all aspects of E2E testing.

  • Work across scrum teams to help evolve quality and automation testing methods.

  • Use Python and pytest to develop automated tests to increase test coverage.

  • Investigate automation failures and collaborate with engineers on best path forward.

  • Participate in root-cause analysis of customer issues to feed back into the test cycle.

  • Identify and remediate gaps in current automated tests, reducing technical debt.

  • Work across scrum teams to improve quality and visibility into shared projects.

  • Maximize test coverage by leveraging your experience to apply appropriate testing methods based on project status

  • Participate in Engineering-wide planning to reduce cross-team dependencies and get visibility into why features are being developed

 

What You’ll Bring

  • 10+ years experience in test automation and framework development 

  • 5+ years hands-on experience in Python development

  • Experience developing automated test suites for execution within CI/CD pipelines

  • Experience gathering and investigating test metrics to drive improvements

  • Solid understanding/experience of containerization services such as Docker/Kubernetes 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to lead discussions 

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and great attention to detail 

  • Growth mindset and willingness to mentor junior engineers

  • Skills in Python, pytest, Jenkins w/ Groovy, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, cloud monitoring tools, Java, Git, Gitlab/GitHub, CI/CD practices
