Join the Superpedestrian Hardware Engineering team in Cambridge, MA building the next generation of vehicles. We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with experience designing reliable mechanical systems and proven expertise in moving product from concept to volume production at overseas facilities. We are looking for an exceptional individual contributor who understands a diverse range of engineering disciplines and can guide the technical development of robust, reliable, and cost-effective products.


What you'll do:

  • Design parts and subsystems for world-class electric ride-share scooters.
  • Develop complex mechanical systems from concept to full-scale manufacturing.
  • Lead DFM tasks and facilitate the transition toward high volume production.
  • Perform structural design, analysis, and optimization using analytic and FEA methods.
  • Evaluate and select materials and processes for optimal performance and manufacturability.
  • Design and run tests to evaluate both prototype and production level hardware.
  • Collaborate between electrical, firmware, design, and other teams.
  • Provide impartial feedback on design concepts, analyses, and documentation..Work with global supply chain to develop components, sub-assemblies products that are cost-effective, reliable and timely.
  • When it is safe to do so, potentially travel overseas to evaluate suppliers and develop solutions to problems.

What we're looking for:

  • 10+ years of experience
  • MS/BS in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field
  • Strong capability to perform white-board analysis of technical problems
  • History of innovative, creative solutions to difficult design challenges
  • Knowledge of high-reliability cost-conscious transportation and mobility systems 
  • Experience in designing highly integrated electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Expertise in designing and documenting some or all of the following
  • Plastic enclosures and housingsAluminum die cast and extruded components
  • Cabling and connectorsRuggedized assemblies and displays
  • Small Vehicle components and assemblies
  • Excellence in CAD modeling, preferably Solidworks
  • Experience working through DFM with suppliers to reduce part cost and improve quality
  • Thorough understanding of design for volume 
  • Demonstrated experience bringing a product or assembly through its entire lifecycle from initial concept to volume manufacturing
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and leadership skills
  • Experience with reliability testing is a plus

  • Plastic enclosures and housings
  • Aluminum die cast and extruded components
  • Cabling and connectors
  • Ruggedized assemblies and displays
  • Small Vehicle components and assemblies
